The vision of the Next Generation Leadership Initiative (NGLI) is to raise up the next generation of leaders for our churches, communities, and cultures.

And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem. Luke 2:36-38 (ESV)

The College of Bishops is committed to discipling and equipping “. . . female [members], lay and ordained, to fulfill their callings and ministries in the work of God’s kingdom . . .” (A Statement from the College of Bishops on the Ordination of Women, September 2017). NGLI, given its mission to discover, develop, and deploy leaders and ministry resources across the Anglican Church in North America province, shares this commitment with the College of Bishops.

NGLI Women's Leadership Network, therefore, seeks to answer the following questions:

How can we support dioceses and parishes in identifying women leaders in keeping with the policies of each diocese?

How can we support dioceses and parishes in equipping women leaders in keeping with the policies of each diocese in order to sustain the current and next generations?

How can we strengthen dioceses and parishes by deploying women leaders into effective ministry for the Kingdom of God?

The Women's Leadership Network seeks to encourage women in their spiritual growth and leadership development in keeping with the policies of each diocese. We commit to providing resources to help develop all women leaders, both lay and ordained, as we identify, connect and equip those who are gifted to serve God within the Anglican Church in North America.

We offer women serving in ministry and other leadership positions a system of support and interconnection, tools to help them grow as contributors helping their organizations grow and fulfill gospel imperatives.

Specifically, the Women's Leadership Network currently:

  • Facilitates cohorts for women who desire to be developed as leaders
  • Offers regular retreats
  • Works with diocesan representatives for the Women's Leadership Network to establish and execute effective ministry in alignment with their diocesan policies
  • Continues a prayer watch, communicating prayer needs pertaining to our women leaders
